converse announced this morning that they are creating another ‘3 artists, 1 track’ project with A-Track, Kimbra and Mark Foster (from Foster The People): http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/a-trak-kimbra-and-mark-foster-team-up-for-new-song-20120327
converse have produced three other tracks within the ‘3 Artists, 1 Track’ project since august last year:

the artists seem to be given free reign to create their own song (in the Best Coast case it was considered a bit of a failure) and the songs are available for free download for a limited period of time. the launch of the song usually coincides with the launch of a new shoe or event, such as a converse’s anniversary. there isn’t any brand promotions or advertising that I can see, it’s just purely riding off PR by using big name artists.
pretty cool project. looking forward to the new one due out April 5.
